Jaco Costa Rica

Playa Jaco is one of the most visited beaches in the Central Pacific. It is an extremely famous place for surfers and adventurers. The lodging options are vast. The city of Jacó is 7 m. of altitude on the level of the sea and counts on ample beach that allows the enjoyment of the sun and sea. The proximity to San José places it among the most visited by tourists, both Costa Ricans and foreigners.

It has one of the most extensive and diverse offers of tourist services in Costa Rica. Jacó has a curvilinear beach about 4 kilometers long, delimited by hills at both ends. The bath with caution, due to the existence of strong currents, and the practice of surfing are the favorite activities of this beach. From Jacó you can travel by boat to Escondida beach, a place well known among surfers.

Surf Trips and adventure in Costa Rica

Playa Jaco is the most popular beach destination for both tourists and Costa Rican locals. The beach and the community are approximately 1 hour from San José by the new road. There are abundant cool hotels such as the Poseidon Hotel, cabins, luxury villas, and resorts.

The area is also known for its nightlife, restaurants, bars and adventure tours such as the canopy and horseback riding. I do not recommend it for people traveling with kids.

However, the area is excellent for surfers. Further south, Playa Hermosa de Jaco is considered one of the best beaches for surfing in Costa Rica. Located just 10 minutes drive south from Playa Jacó. Beautiful has some of the best waves in all of Costa Rica. A lot of national and international surfing competitions have taken place in Hermosa.

The beach is not recommended for swimming or bathing, and it is hazardous due to strong currents and big waves. There are about 20 hotels in the area that we support.
